Rebuild your site design without starting from a blank template
If you have been running a site on WordPress for years, switching tools can feel like homework. Themes, plugins, updates, and the gap between what you want and what you got add up fast.
In the walkthrough above, an existing WordPress site is rebuilt inside Airo AI Builder: same colors, same content structure, a homepage that lists posts, a post layout, and an About page. No code. No theme hunting. One focused build, then a few refinement passes.
The same workflow works if you run another platform, or if you are starting fresh and can describe the look you want without a live URL.

Who this is for
- You run a site on WordPress (or another platform) and want the same look in Airo AI Builder
- You write about food, run a consulting practice, or photograph weddings in your town
- You are starting fresh and can describe the design you want even if you do not have a live site yet
Whether you paste a URL or write your first prompt from scratch, the steps below are the same.
How the steps fit together
This guide uses three steps. If you start from Rebuild my site, Step 1 is adding your URL or domain. Airo AI Builder generates your first pass from your URL. You do not need to write a separate opening prompt on top of that.
| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Paste your domain or URL, pick Reimagine or Keep my current look, click Continue |
| Step 2 | Review the site Airo AI Builder generated |
| Step 3 | Refine with follow-up prompts or manual edits |
The video walkthrough shows the written prompt path. The Rebuild my site path gets you to the same place faster when you already have a live site.
Step 1 — Start with Rebuild my site on the landing page
On the Airo AI Builder landing page, click Rebuild my site. A modal opens: How should we rebuild your site?
- Paste your site URL (for example, your live WordPress site). Use a site you own and control.
- Choose a rebuild path:
- Reimagine my site — a fresh, modern redesign. Good if you want a new look, not a close match to what you have today.
- Keep my current look — rebuild with your existing design and content. This is the path for matching a WordPress site you already run.
- Click Continue to start the build.
For the workflow in this guide (same layout, colors, and site structure as your WordPress site), choose Keep my current look. When the first build finishes, go to Step 2 to review it.
Starting from scratch? Skip Rebuild my site and use the written opening prompt in the section below instead, then continue with Steps 2 and 3.
Optional: written opening prompt (if you skip Rebuild my site)
Use this when you do not have a URL to paste, or when you want full control over the first message. Put context in your first prompt. Tell Airo AI Builder:
- What you are building (a personal blog, a business site, a portfolio with posts)
- Who it is for (your readers, customers, community)
- What it needs to do (list posts, single post pages, About page, contact, and so on)
- Your colors and the look you want to rebuild (from your existing site or a written description)
The more context you add in that first message, the less back-and-forth you need later. For more examples across use cases, see How to Write Prompts That Get Great Results in Airo AI Builder.
Example opening prompt (rebuilding from your own site):
Build a site for [your topic]. I am rebuilding the look of my existing site at [your URL]. Use my colors: [primary], [accent], [background]. I need a homepage that lists my products, and an About page. Match the clean card layout and navigation from my current site.
Example opening prompt (starting fresh):
Build a site for my consulting practice. Audience is small business owners in [your city]. I need a homepage with my latest posts, a readable article page, and an About page. Minimal design, lots of white space, navy headings, and a warm off-white background.
Example opening prompt (from the video):
Build a personal blog for me. I write about building websites for non-technical people.
Pages: a home page that lists recent posts, an individual post page, an About page, and a Contact page.
Look and feel: clean and minimal with lots of white space. Use my brand colors: #8B5CF6 as the primary and #2A1A5E for headings and accents. I like how my existing WordPress site lays out its post list, and I want this to feel like that.
Add a light/dark/system mode toggle.
Step 2 — Review what the first pass gives you
Do not expect perfection on pass one. Most site rebuilds take a few rounds.
After the initial build, check:
- Does the homepage list posts the way you expect?
- Is the About page present and on-brand?
- Are your brand colors applied consistently?
Good signs: Homepage lists posts in a layout you recognize, single post page is readable and on-brand, About page exists in your colors, the site feels like yours rather than a random theme.
Normal gaps: Spacing or typography slightly off, header or footer needs another pass, one section does not match your old site yet. Use focused follow-up prompts in Step 3. Pass one should give you a real-looking site to refine, not a pixel-perfect clone.
If the structure matches what you had on WordPress and the feel matches your brand, move to focused refinements. If something major is missing, add it in one clear follow-up prompt before you tweak details.
Step 3 — Refine with prompts or manual edits
The fastest way to lose control is asking for everything at once. Handle one focused change at a time:
Pass 1 — layout: "Update the homepage so posts display as cards with a featured image, title, excerpt, and date."
Pass 2 — navigation: "Add a sticky header with links to Home, Blog, and About. Match the footer links to the same structure."
Pass 3 — polish: "Increase spacing between post cards. Use my accent color for links only."
Each prompt does one job. Airo AI Builder knows exactly what to change instead of guessing across ten requests bundled together.
Manual edits: For small copy tweaks, text swaps, or layout nudges, click directly in the editor instead of prompting. That is often faster than a follow-up prompt and can save AI credits on changes that do not need the agent.
Credits note: Building and refining the look with prompts uses AI credits, the same as any Airo AI Builder session. Plan for a first pass plus two or three small follow-ups rather than one giant request.
What about my existing WordPress blog posts?
Rebuild my site rebuilds your site's design and structure from your live URL. It does not bulk-import your full WordPress post archive today.
You get the layout: homepage, post template, About page, and the look you chose. Existing articles still need to move over separately. Options today:
- Add posts in Airo AI Builder as you publish new content or migrate high-priority articles first
- Copy text from WordPress into new posts on your rebuilt site
- Use Rebuild my site as the design pass, then fill in your archive over time
If you have hundreds of posts, plan for a phased migration rather than a one-click import. Part two of the video series covers the weekly blog workflow after the design rebuild is done.
SEO after you switch from WordPress
WordPress bloggers often rely on SEO plugins for titles, meta descriptions, and sitemaps. Airo AI Builder includes built-in SEO and AEO on every published site, so you do not need a separate plugin stack for the basics.
After your rebuild, you can prompt Airo AI Builder to optimize titles, descriptions, and page structure for search. For a full walkthrough, see How to Get Your Website Found on Google with Airo AI Builder SEO.
WordPress vs. rebuilding your site in Airo AI Builder
Airo AI Builder is a separate product: you describe what you want in conversation and publish without managing a WordPress stack.
| WordPress (typical) | Rebuild in Airo AI Builder | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Pick a theme, install plugins, configure hosting, wire pages together | Paste your URL or describe your site in plain language |
| How you build | Themes, page builders, plugin settings, sometimes custom code | Conversation: tell Airo AI Builder what you want, refine with follow-up prompts |
| Design match | Manual theme tweaks, child themes, CSS | Prompt your colors, pages, layout, and reference your existing site |
| Refinement | Editor + customizer + plugin panels + sometimes PHP | Follow-up prompts or manual edits in the editor |
| Maintenance | Core updates, plugin conflicts, security patches, compatibility testing | Built-in hosting and publish flow |
| Best for | Teams that need a specific plugin stack, deep WooCommerce setups, or developer-level CMS control | Owners who want to skip WordPress overhead and rebuild through conversation instead of themes and plugins |
WordPress overhead vs. Airo AI Builder ease
WordPress rewards flexibility, but that flexibility comes with ongoing work: choosing and updating themes, managing plugins, troubleshooting conflicts, and keeping hosting and security current. For many site owners, that stack feels like running a second job alongside the site they actually wanted.
Airo AI Builder trades the plugin-and-theme stack for a conversational workflow. You describe the site (or point at one you own with Rebuild my site), review what comes back, and refine in plain language. No theme hunting. No plugin compatibility checks before you change a layout. Changes happen through prompts, not through five different admin screens.
More than blogs
This guide uses a blog as the example, but the same rebuild path applies to any WordPress site you own: business sites, portfolios, service pages, landing pages, and simple stores. Use Keep my current look when you want a close match to what you already have, or Reimagine my site when you want a fresh take on the same content. You are not limited to post lists and About pages.
WordPress still makes sense when you depend on a specific plugin ecosystem, need advanced WooCommerce at scale, or want full CMS control with a developer on call. Airo AI Builder fits when you want your site live and maintainable without the WordPress maintenance tax.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Reimagine my site and Keep my current look?
Reimagine my site generates a fresh, modern redesign from your URL. Keep my current look rebuilds with your existing design and content, which is the better starting point when you want your WordPress site to feel the same after you switch.
Does Rebuild my site import all my WordPress blog posts?
No. Rebuild my site rebuilds your site's design and page structure from your live URL. It does not bulk-import your full WordPress post archive. Plan to add or migrate posts separately after the design rebuild is done.
Do I need to write an opening prompt if I use Rebuild my site?
No. Step 1 is the modal: paste your URL, pick Reimagine or Keep my current look, and click Continue. Airo AI Builder generates the first pass from there. Use follow-up prompts or manual edits in Step 3 only if you want to change something. The written opening prompt is for when you skip Rebuild my site.
Can I rebuild my WordPress site design without copying code?
Yes. Describe your pages, colors, and layout in prompts. Airo AI Builder generates the site structure and design. You refine with follow-up prompts instead of editing theme files or PHP.
Is this the same as Airo for WordPress?
No. Airo for WordPress builds native WordPress sites on GoDaddy Managed Hosting. Airo AI Builder is a conversational builder for web apps and sites outside the WordPress CMS. This guide is for rebuilding your site design in Airo AI Builder.
Is it OK to copy my WordPress site into Airo AI Builder?
Rebuilding your own site design and content you own is fine. Do not rebuild a site you do not own or have rights to use.
What if I do not have a WordPress site yet?
Describe the site you want: topic, audience, pages, colors, and tone. You do not need an existing site to follow the same workflow.
What pages do I need for a basic blog?
At minimum: a homepage that lists posts, a single post template, and an About page. Add Contact or other pages in a later pass once the core blog layout works.
How many prompts does a WordPress-style blog usually take?
Plan for one strong opening prompt plus two to four refinement passes (layout, navigation, header/footer, content tweaks). The demo shows card layout and header/footer as separate steps.
Will the first version look perfect?
Unlikely, and that is fine. The first pass should give you a real homepage, post layout, and About page in your colors. Refinement passes handle the details.
Do design refinements use AI credits?
Yes. Initial builds and prompt-based design changes consume credits. Manual edits in the editor can be faster for small tweaks and may not use credits. Use focused prompts when you want the agent to handle a larger change.
Does Airo AI Builder handle SEO for my blog?
Yes. Built-in SEO and AEO ship with every site. You can prompt Airo AI Builder to optimize titles, meta descriptions, and page structure without installing a WordPress SEO plugin.
